This
is an oral recipe as told to me by my Grandma A. I have made this applesauce
countless times and always fool people into thinking I am a great cook when they
taste it! Make as much of this as possible so you can remember
Get lots of baking or cooking apples and peel, core and slice them. (If you are a busy dog Mom, the modern way is to buy them already frozen, peeled, cut and sliced!) Put apples in a large cook pot and just cover with water. If you are doing a lot of apples, you will need to repeat the process. Probably you should only make your large cook pot about half full of apples each time. Bring to boil, stirring sometimes, and continue to boil them until the apples plump up and appear ready to fall apart. Drain apples – you don't want runny applesauce. Beat with hand mixer to desired consistency – some like it thin and some like it thick with chunks. Add cinnamon and sugar (while applesauce is still hot) to taste and pour into freezer containers. Freeze applesauce. Thaw out to eat and enjoy and bring back wonderful memories.
